Rainville, André
André Rainville is a forest engineering graduate from Laval University (B. Sc. 1983, M. Sc. 1992). He first worked for Uniboard Canada and then for the Syndicat des producteurs de bois. From 1986 until his retirement in 2018, he was a researcher at the Direction de la recherche forestière. At first, he focused his work on the production of multiclonal varieties, on the development of seed orchards, and on the genetic improvement of noble hardwood. He was then in charge of the white spruce genetic improvement program. He also studied forest species adaptation to the effects of climate change and the possibilities made available by assisted migration.
