Godbout, Christian
Christian Godbout is a graduate from Laval University in forest engineering (B. Sc., 1980), plant ecology (M. Sc., 1984) and forest sciences (Ph. D., 1991). From 1986 to 1989, he was a project manager at the Centre de recherche en biologie forestière [Forest Biology Research Centre] of Laval University and was interested in the biology and ecophysiology of ectomycorrhizal symbiosis. From 1990 to 1992, he was a research fellow working on ectomycorrhizal symbiosis at the Institut de recherche en biologie végétale [Plant Biology Research Institute] of the University of Montréal. In 1992, he joined the Direction de la recherche forestière as a researcher in forest ecology to study forest soil variability as well as old-growth forest composition and dynamics. From 1999 until his retirement in 2021, he was assigned to the silviculture and yield of forests team where his research focused on the silviculture of white birch, white pine and red pine, for which he has acquired expertise over time.
