Duchesne, Louis
Louis Duchesne has been a forest engineer since 1996. Since he obtained his master’s degree in forest sciences from Laval University in 1999, he has held a position of expert researcher in the ecosystems and environment team at the Direction de la recherche forestière. For over 30 years, he has been overseeing the environmental monitoring activities of forest watersheds carried out by the Ministère des Forêts, de la Faune et des Parcs. He specializes in the study of forest growth and nutrition, mostly aimed at better understanding and anticipating the impacts of environmental stress factors on forest dynamics. To achieve this, he uses large forest inventory data sets, historical meteorological data as well as data from experimental devices, among other tools. His work thus helps to better characterize forests and to improve our knowledge of how they function and interact with the environment.
