Gagnon, Jean
Jean Gagnon is a forest engineering graduate from Laval University (B. Sc., 1984, M. Sc., 1987). He was a researcher in forest seedlings production at the Direction de la recherche forestière from 1987 until his retirement in 2018. His work contributed to the development of irrigation and fertilization systems that were tested using software in order to mitigate the leaching of mineral elements and better protect the quality of groundwater in Québec’s forest nurseries. He also studied the biochemical transformation processes of the various nitrogen sources (ammonium, nitrate, urea) applied in nurseries, as well as their effects on the leaching of mineral elements and the growth of container-grown and bareroot seedlings. He was a member of various technical groups and of the Comité environnement des pépinières gouvernementales.
