Lamhamedi, Mohammed
Mohammed S. Lamhamedi is a forest engineer who graduated from Hassan-II Institute of Agronomy & Veterinary Sciences (IAV Hassan-II, Morroco) in general agronomy (B. Sc., 1983), then became a state agricultural engineer specialized in forestry (M. Sc., 1985). He also holds a doctorate in forestry from Laval University (Ph. D., 1991). From 1986 to 1999, he was a professor-researcher at IAV Hassan-II, a postdoctoral researcher at the Institut de recherche en biologie végétale of the University of Montréal, a visiting researcher at the Centre de foresterie des Laurentides, a scientific director (World Bank Project, Tunisia) and a researcher at Laval University. He worked for the Direction de la recherche forestière from 1999 until his retirement in 2023. Since 1999, he is also an associate professor at Laval University and an associate researcher at the Centre d’étude de la forêt. He is a part of various committees involved in journal publication and project evaluation for granting agencies. He has gained an expertise on ecophysiology applied to the plant production chain in forest nurseries and in plantations (irrigation, fertilization, physiochemistry of substrates, leaching, ectomycorrhizae, drought and frost tolerance, early selection, clonal variability, hardwood and softwood cuttings, somatic embryogenesis, modernization of nurseries, assisted migration). He is also invested in the transfer of knowledge, expertise and know-how through supervising or co-supervising graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.
