Training of hunters and trappers – Programme d’éducation en sécurité et en conservation de la faune (PESCOF)
In Québec, hunting enthusiasts are numerous. Over the past few years, they have annually purchased some 408,000 licences. The relative complexity of sport hunting, underscored by the need to understand wildlife, the regulations protecting wildlife, hunting methods and techniques and the need to adopt safe and responsible behaviours, have led to the setting up of a framework education program dealing with safety and wildlife conservation (PESCOF).
This section presents the history of the PESCOF program as well as the various modules that make up this training program.
